Alfred Herbert Jacobs "Butch" 72 of Greenville, went home to be with his Lord on March 31, 2021. He was born December 18, 1948 to the late James Jacobs and Majorie (Nathaniel) Sampson in Brooklyn, NY. Alfred was a sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam war and received a purple heart amongst other metals. He was a lifelong member of the Alvin L. Wilson (boots on the ground) DAV Chapter 1. He was on the front line during the war.

Alfred married the love of his life Rosemary Jacobs and cherished 38 beautiful years together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Family was his world. He was a league bowler and played tournament pool. Alfred worked for the Post Office for over 25 years before his retirement.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Rosemary Jacobs ; daughters; Krystle Jacobs and Felicia Lindsey; son; Christopher Byrd. 6 grandchildren; Aniya Jacobs, Kaiden Mitchell, Samara Rogers, Kristen Olgesby, Jayci Hill and D asia Armstrong, and a host of nieces and nephews . His sisters are; Wanda Holiday, Sandra (Marion "June") Smith. Brother-in-law; Bubba (Nell) Byrd , Jackie Byrd . Five Sister -in-laws

Omelia Byrd, Patricia Byrd, Willie Byrd, Hattie Mae Byrd and Brenda Mennifield.

He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held Sunday April 11th, 2021 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Graceland Mortuary, 4814 White Horse Rd. Greenville SC 29611.
