IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alvin Emmett
Craft
April 2, 1947 – November 13, 2019
Alvin Emmett Craft, 72, passed through the gates of Heaven into the Lord's arms on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. He was surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Kinston, North Carolina on April 02, 1947, to the late Emmett Craft, Jr. and Nellie Tyson.
Alvin was married to Harriet Hill in 1968 in Woodbridge, Virginia and they had three beautiful children.
He owned and successfully operated Craft's Recycling and Disposal, Inc. in Virginia for 22 years. When he and his family moved to the upstate, Alvin became a supervisor with the Greater Greenville Sanitation Department. He retired from the company after 20 years of faithful service. He always treated his employees like family, loving them whole hardheartedly. Many of his employees thought of him as a father figure. In his spare time, Alvin liked to ride his Harley motorcycle, enjoyed wood working, operating heavy equipment, playing cards, and dominoes. He was a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church and a faithful attendee of the men's Sunday school class. It has been said that Alvin was in his element when he was on a tractor and digging holes. Alvin was helpful, giving, and loved everyone that he met. He was a prankster and a joker. Alvin also made a mean cheese bread.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 51 years Harriet Craft; three children: Tina Adams (Robbie), Daniel Craft (Erin), and Stacey Wilmot (Rob); ten grand children: Steven Abshire (Katie), Molly Tilley (Pete), Logan Abshire, Rachel Adams, Elijah Craft, Veronica Craft, Whitney Craft, Breanna Wilmot, MaKayla Wilmot, and Connor Wilmot; four great grand children: Sadie Clark, Jacob Abshire, Layla Abshire, and Jaxon Abshire; and sister Arlene Hairfield (Steve).
In addition to his parents, Alvin is proceeded in death by his brother Robbie Caudell and nephew Ryan Pizzeck.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:45 am in the Graceland Mortuary Chapel with the Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 pm.
