Carl W. "Buster" Phillips, 78, of Greenville passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 after a courageous and valiant fight with cancer. Mr. Phillips was a son of the late William H. and Ethel E. Westmorland Phillips. Carl was also the loving husband of Jackie L. Howard Phillips. In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his two sons, Michael Phillips (Rachel) and Ricky Phillips (Kelly); three grandchildren: Catherine Elizabeth, Casey Andrew, Luke Douglas Carl (on his way soon), and one brother, Ralph Phillips. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Buster was the founder of "Carl Phillips and Country Times Band." With his talent for music he went on to perform with such greats as Conway Twitty, Alabama, Bob Luman, Peggy Sue Wright, and Kenny Price who was a regular on "Hee-Haw".
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Graceland Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to services starting at 11:00am, also at The Graceland Mortuary. Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery-WEST.
