Obituary

Carmine James "Jimmy" Lanni, a Bronx, NY native, passed away peacefully at 67 years of age in Greer, SC on February 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 26, 1957 to the late Mary Figueroa-Lanni and Carmine Lanni.

Jimmy overcame odds at a young age that many others could not but prevailed. He was a savant in so many ways: self-taught, well-read, dapper, and full of class.

Jimmy was passionate about real estate and invested in rundown properties, which he would renovate himself. He was equally passionate about commodities trading for which he was recognized by the Wall Street Journal. Jimmy also took over the family general contracting business, which included accounts with Fordham University, Fordham Law School at Lincoln Center, and St. Marys Children's Hospital in Queens, NY. Jimmy's natural, God given abilities were endless.

He was generous with everyone and always took the opportunity to help others in need. Jimmy had a way of making those in his presence feel comfortable, always ready to share his own personal stories in a show of understanding or compassion or to give sound advice. He was relatable to all those who he came across and made people feel safe and loved. He will be missed and forever loved by all those whose lives he touched.

Jimmy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Particia Lanni; daughter, Jennifer Lanni-Haskell, her husband Thomas Haskell and their daughter Mikayla; son, James Lanni and his wife Veronica; siblings: Michael Varela, James Lanni, Steve Lanni, Sandra Varela-Langit, Joanne Lanni-Barnett, and Bianca Lanni-Jensen; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Anna Spinelli, Franco Spinelli, Kimberly Spinelli, Paul Barnett, Ralph Langit, and Jennifer O'Neil-Lanni; nieces: Jessica Spinelli, Allison Boughner, Ashley Spinelli, and Haley Jensen; nephews: Frankie Spinelli, Landon Hansen, Joey Jenson, James Lanni Jr., and Johnathan Barnett; stepmother, Catalina Lanni; and many grand-nieces and -nephews and childhood friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his mother-in-law, Assunta Spinelli; father-in-law, Salvatore Spinelli; and his nephew, Michael Spinelli where they are joined together again in Heaven with the Lord.

The Lanni family will hold an intimate gathering and funeral service 1:00 PM Wednesday February 26, 2025, in the mausoleum chapel of Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681 to celebrate and honor a life well-lived; committal and burial will follow. Services and care have been entrusted to Graceland Mortuary of Greenville, SC.
