Charles "Michael"
Sommers
, age 57, husband, father, and papew lost his short but heroic fight with cancer on May 20, 2022, surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Donna Lynn May for 29 years; their love was the same today as the day they married. Michael was born and raised in Savannah, Ga., where he spent most of his life until moving to Easley, Sc. in 2015. He was the son of the late Loyd J. "Spook"
Sommers
Jr. and Eleanor "Faye" Barnwell. Michael was a kind, caring, and considerate man with an extraordinary sense of compassion. He was generous and thoughtful and had a love for his grandchildren that consumed his life. Although enrolled at Robert W. Groves High School in Garden City, Ga., Michael would enter the front door and head for the back to catch the train home. Although a jack of all trades, he currently worked for Fontaine Construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator out of Pelzer, SC. He enjoyed fishing, woodwork, Nascar, and his honeydew list; you could find him in his shed or with his grandkids if you were looking for him. If you could dream it, he could achieve it. Left to cherish his loving wife, Donna. His daughter Michele (Nick) Curry, and grandchildren Gabriel "Nox," Ezekiel "Nero," Novalyse Ryan "Nova," and Macklin "Mack" Josef. A bonus daughter Eva "Christy" (William) Bumpers, grandchildren Brittney and Leighyana Johnson, William "Boont" Bumpers, and great-grandson Grayson Dashon. His brother-in-law Marion "Roger" May Jr., his "co-outlaw" Shelia May, and His sister Paula Richardson of Savannah, Ga. His Aunt Gail
Sommers
of Sylvania, Ga. His cousin Douglas R. "Buckshot"
Sommers
of Statesboro, Ga. His special niece Amanda Berryhill. And His best friends, Don Lockey and Terry Harper. And a slew of nieces, nephews, and friends. His grandparents, parents, brother, and grandbaby Kendrix preceded him in death.
The family would like to formally thank James Curtis and Jason Moorhead with Fontaine Construction for their kind support shown during this time.
Per Michael's requests, he will be cremated and will run through one last time. The family has chosen to celebrate his life in private. If you would like to send memorial donations, the family would appreciate plants of any kind and prayers during these difficult times.
