Dallas Whatley Griffin Sr., 82, passed away on Thursday April 12, 2012. He is the son of the late James Milton and Sara Frances Whatley Griffin and was born in Mauldin, SC. He is also the husband of Ann Simmons Griffin.
In 1946, Mr. Griffin opened and operated J. M. Griffin and Son Fuel Oil and Hardware in Mauldin. He is a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church, and a certified Master Gardener. He was a member of the Greenville Genealogy Society, a graduate of Furman University where he earned a degree in Business, and a former Trustee and Board Member of Bankers Trust. He is also a veteran of the Air Force.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: James "Jim" M. Griffin II of Greenville, Dallas Whatley Griffin Jr. (Laura T.) of Simpsonville, Lisa A. Griffin of Greenville, and Christopher M. Griffin (Dawn Bray) of Greenville; his grandchildren: Christopher M. Griffin II, Grant D. Griffin, Grace A. Griffin; step-grandchildren: Miles A. Nuckolls and E. Alex Nuckolls; niece and nephew: Kathy and Spartan Dickson.
He is predeceased by his sister Kathleen G. Dickson
Graveside services will be held on Sunday April 15, 2012 at 2:45 pm at Graceland East Cemetery on Woodruff Rd. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 1 pm until 2:30 pm in the cemetery mausoleum.
