Daniel Malakye
Colon
July 28, 1995 – January 31, 2021
Daniel Malakye Colon, 25, of Easley SC, departed this earth to fly high
on 01/31/2021. Born to Mayra Burgos Colon on July 28, 1995. He was a
very loving son, brother, uncle, and father. Daniel was a faithful, loving, and
amazing friend to so many. He was one of the best EMT's and truly cared
about all his patients and loved his job. He was a huge part of Vital Care
EMS DRT team, always ready to go in a split second to help wherever was
needed. He was currently enrolled in Greenville Tech for computer
programming and is currently on the Dean's List. Daniel chose to be an
organ donor in his younger years which many families were blessed and
grateful for. Daniel was in the 1% of organ donors who could donate. He was
always a hero in our lives and now he is the hero in the lives of many
families with his gifts. He always made the decision to "pay it forward".He
graduated at Hillcrest High at the age of 15 and went to Greenville Tech
after to start his career in applied science where he received his associates
degree. Daniel was also a volunteer firefighter with Powdersville Fire Dept.
Daniel Malakye Colon is survived by his mother Mayra Burgos Colon,
brothers of Carlos and Jose, sisters Vanessa and Monica, nephews Nico,
Mason, Noah, Alfredo, Micha, Leland, Kayden, niece Kayla, godchild Maomi,
and children Addison, Echo, Brian, and Delta. Preceded in death by maw-
maw Shirley Logan and Mama Elvira Colon.
Daniel's favorite bible verse was Matthew 4:19 which says "Walk by
faith. Not fear." He ran track for Hillcrest High and one of his favorites
hobbies was writing. He has a book published by the name of "Whiskey and
Scars." He loved to volunteer at his local church and has been a blood donor
since early age. He was a manager at McDonald's and Little Caeser's. He
was very compassionate in anything he did and enjoyed helping wherever
and whenever he could. He was born Katelee Milagros Colon. He enjoyed
cooking and was a true Puerto Rican at heart. He will always be loved and
truly missed by many.
A Service of Remembrance will be held for Daniel on Sunday, February 7th, 2021 from 3:00pm-7:00pm in the chapel of Graceland Mortuary.
