Donald E. Hicks Sr. Hartwell, Ga.
Donald E. Hicks, Sr,. of 38 Nancy Heights, passed away on September 8, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Hicks is the husband of Margaret Ann Jones Hicks of the home.
Mr. Hicks was born in Greenville, S.C. and was the son of the late Eldon J. and Lula Mae Johnson Hicks. Before retiring, Mr. Hicks made a career in the manufacturing industry. He is also of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hicks is survived by two sons: Roger Dale and Donald Earl Hicks Jr., both of Hartwell, Ga.; two sisters: Nettie Lee Bowers of Dacusville, S.C. and Annie Jeannette Russell of Iva, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hicks is predeceased by a son, Michael Eugene Hicks.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Graceland Mortuary. Interment will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery West. There will be a visitation prior to the funeral from 1 to 2 p.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Greenville, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605 or Odyssey Healthcare of Athens, 575 Research Dr., Athens, GA 30605.
The family will be at their respective homes.
