Edward "Eddie" Hanse Neal, 75, of Liberty, went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, January 16, 2020, following a long battle with cancer. He was born on July 15, 1944 and was the son of the late Hansford and Ava Lena Neal.
Ed graduated, in 1962, from Walter P. Chrysler High School in New Castle, Indiana. While there he excelled in football and wrestling. Ed remained a sports fan and continued following the basketball, football and wrestling teams for many years after graduation. His enthusiasm for sports led to an interest and participation in professional boxing and professional race car driving. He was also a member of a professional bowling team, and coached numerous boy's baseball teams.
Ed had a 38 year, long and fulfilling career with Chrysler prior to his retirement in September of 2001. He was also a distinguished member of the Knights of Pythias for 51 years, and he served as the Grand Chancellor of Indiana.
Ed was a native of Indiana, and lived in New Castle for most of his adult life. He was a well-known member of the community, and he was well liked by those around him. He married his wife, Ruth, in 2008 and then moved to Liberty, South Carolina where they lived happily for the past 11 ½ years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lewis Neal of Liberty; three sons: Gary (Melinda) Neal of Nevada; Roger Kunselman of Athens, GA; Robert (Heather) Kunselman of Simpsonville, SC; two daughters: Rhonda (Craig) Skipper of Fort Myers, FL; Rita (Mauricio) Sanabria of Fort Myers; seven grandchildren: Tyler Neal of New Castle, IN; Logan and Morgan Skipper of Fort Myers, FL; Hadley and Harrison Kunselman of Simpsonville, SC; Sophia and Vincent Sanabria of Fort Myers, FL; one great-granddaughter: Lemon May of New Castle, IN; mother-in-law: Bonnie Stockton of New Castle, IN; sister-in-law: Lesia Lewis Diego of New Castle, IN; two sisters: Barbara Neal and Wanda (John) Strickler; brother and sister-in-law: Jim and Diane Hamm; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hansford and Ava Lena Neal; two brothers; two brothers-in-law: Bill and Jim Lewis, and his first wife, Laura.
A service to celebrate and honor the life and memory of Ed Hanse Neal will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Greenville First Church of the Nazarene (GFN), 1201 Haywood Road, Greenville, SC 29615 - Visitation will be from 12-1pm and the Service will be from 1-2pm.
