Elmer Bauman, resident of Greer, SC, passed away early Saturday morning, March 3, 2018 at the age of 91. He is survived by his five children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Elmer was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, the second of ten children, to Mennonite immigrants from Russia. He went to Japan in 1953 as a missionary where he met and married Carol Park, also a missionary there. Together they served as missionaries and raised their children in Japan until 1978, when they returned to the United States to make their home in South Carolina.

Besides being a dedicated missionary, Elmer was a man of many skills. He was an avid musician who played the violin and viola beautifully. He also loved to paint and write poetry. He was a skilled builder and wood worker as well as a master electrician.

Elmer was loved by many and he will be deeply missed by his family as well as his friends.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 4 pm at Pelham Road Christian Fellowship, 104 New Woodruff Road in Greer, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Georgia Road in Simpsonville, SC.
