CELEBRATION OF LIFE for ELSIE LEWIS MCABEE

Elsie B. (Lewis) McAbee, 64, departed this earthly life on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina surrounded by her family. She was born to Mrs. Rosa Lee Finch & the late Frank Lewis in Pass Christian, Mississippi. She was the wife of Steve McAbee of Greenville, South Carolina.

Elsie graduated from Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Illinois. She loved to sing, travel, babysit nieces/nephews/grandkids, play pool/cards, watch westerns and cook. She worked over the years in different industries including music & entertainment as a singer/songwriter and became self-employed in industrial lighting and signage. She was a free spirit that simply loved life and made several lifelong friends along the way with her infectious laugh and big heart.

Elsie leaves to cherish, in addition to her mother and husband: Children - Neisha Lorraine Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; Dawn Elise (Garland) Owens of Jackson, Mississippi; Moonshine Marie McAbee & James Dean McAbee of Greenville, South Carolina. Grandchildren - Ila Knox, Lance Knox, Alexis McAbee, Jonathan "Conner" Simpson and Logan Simpson. Siblings - Cindy Reed of Evanston, IL; Shirley (Lee) Gordon of Aurora, IL; Dennis Lewis of Evanston, IL; Vernice Greene-Wilks of Evanston, IL; Patricia Edwards of Greenville, SC; Jean Hellams Smith of Greenville, SC; James (Lisa) Hellams, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; Cathy (Greg) Harris of Taylors, SC; Marsha Hellams and Pam Haynes of Trenton, FL. A host of special cousins, nieces, nephews, countless more relatives and friends. Last, but not least, her beloved dog - Riley.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 | 2pm at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church | 505 White Horse Road in Greenville, South Carolina 29605. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the Verneila McCathen Scholarship Fund at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 292, Pass Christian, MS 39571.
