Obituary

Gayle A. Holcombe, 77, passed away on Friday, 10, 2020, at her home. She was born in Travelers Rest on February 14, 1943 to the late Thomas Jefferson Allen and his wife Virgil Jeanette Brookshire.

Gayle, born Karion Gayle Allen, married her late husband Clyde for 53 wonderful years and they had two children. She worked for Norwich Eaton and Proctor & Gamble for 40 years and Brooks Office Equipment for over 10 years. Gayle was member of Victory Baptist Church in Easley for many years and a devoted member of the Women's Sunday school. She enjoyed reading her bible, Christian inspirational romance, Amish books, and western novels. She loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren, as she always made time for her family. Gayle also loved teaching,  flowers and plants, remodeling and doing home repairs with her daughter. She loved the mountains, the ocean, and all of God's beauty, especially the sunsets.

She is survived by her daughter Tonya Renee Holcombe Brooks (Robert); daughter-in-law Sarah Kelly Holcombe; two sister-in-laws: Margaret Ann Holcombe Cobb and Joyce Hood Allen; brother-in-law Herbert Davidson; two grandsons: Daniel Lewis Holcombe and Sterling Robert Brooks; two granddaughters: Ariana Graycie Brooks and Natalia Rose Brooks.

In addition to her parents, Gayle is preceded in death by her husband Clyde Lewis "Butch" Holcombe, son Stacy Lewis Holcombe, a brother Gary Preston Allen, a sister Freida Paulette Allen Davidson, brother-in-law Thomas Joe Cobb, Sr., a grandson James Patrick Holcombe Brooks, and a granddaughter Navi Ryiann Holcombe Brooks.

A drive-thru visitation will be held at Graceland Mortuary on Thursday, April 16, 2020 from 1:30 – 3:15 pm. Graveside service will follow and start at 3:30 pm at Graceland Cemetery-WEST. Preacher Greg Phillips of Victory Baptist Church (Easley) will conducting the service for the family.

Due to the restrictions placed by South Carolina Governor Henry McMasters and the CDC's recommended guidelines for social distancing to help curve the COVID-19 pandemic, we respectfully will not be accepting visitors inside. special arrangements have been made for the family to receive friends through a drive-thru visitation. Guests will remain in their vehicles  and drive through the parking lot receiving line.
