George Joseph King, 80, native of Pickens, SC, passed away peacefully Monday, July 8, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born February 22, 1944 to the late Eula and Clarence King, Sr., and was husband to the late Connie Lee King.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by his son, Paul Bartley Reece; grandson, Joshua Victor Weaver; brother, Clarence King, Jr.; and sisters: Clara Dean King, Annie Bell Sanders, and Willie Mae Corbet. He is survived by his daughter, Batonya Lee Reece; sister, Susan Norris (Bobby); and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

George was a man of integrity and someone that was always there. A man of hard work, he had a passion for repairing automobiles. For his love of God, he was an active member of Glassy Mountain View Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Joe Anders 12:00 PM Monday, July 15, 2024 at Glassy Mountain View Baptist Church, 216 Glassy Mountain Church Rd., Pickens, SC 29671. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 11:00 AM. Committal and burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery West in Greenville, SC.
