Gerardo Antonio Salinas Matute, de 23 años de edad, de Greenville SC, partió a su hogar celestial el día miércoles 28 de febrero de 2024. Dejando un legado de amor y resiliencia. Gerardo nació en Juticalpa, Honduras el 31 de enero de 2001, hijo de Ermes Gerardo Salinas y Ana Matute Calix. Creció en Greenville SC con sus padres y su hermana Dayana. Completó sus estudios de escuela primaria, escuela intermedia y la preparatoria en el Distrito Escolar del Condado de Greenville. Graduándose de la escuela preparatoria JL Man.  Le sobreviven sus padres, hermano Gerardo José Salinas, hermana Dayana y muchos parientes cercanos, como tías, tíos y primos, que lo amaban entrañablemente.

El amor sobreabundaba en la vida de Gerardo; su madre dedicó toda su existencia a cuidarlo y asegurarse de que tuviera todo lo que necesitaba. A pesar de enfrentar obstáculos como resultado de su enfermedad, la distrofia muscular Duchenne, ella hizo un gran esfuerzo para brindarle una vida llena de puro afecto, atención compasiva y todo su apoyo. Su madre era su heroína y el amor de su vida, y él se aseguraba de que ella lo supiera. A pesar de su corta edad, el tocó muchas vidas por su brillante testimonio de paz y fortaleza. Los recuerdos de la vida apacible de Gerardo seguirán inspirando a los que dejó atrás. Lo extrañaremos profundamente y siempre recordaremos los preciosos momentos que pasamos junto a él.

La madre de Gerardo desea que, en lugar de flores los amigos y familiares le lleven notas con palabras de aliento para ayudarla a enfrentar los  días tristes. En la capilla habrá una canasta designada para las tarjetas. Muchas gracias!

Gerardo Antonio Salinas Matute, 23, of Greenville SC went to his heavenly home peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Living behind a legacy of love and resilience. Gerardo was born in Juticalpa, Honduras on January 31, 2001 to Ermes Gerardo Salinas and Ana Matute Calix. He grew up in Greenville, SC with his parents and sister Dayana. He completed his elementary, middle, and high school studies in Greenville County School District. A high school graduate from JL Mann High School.  He is survived by his parents; brother, Gerardo Jose Salinas; sister, Dayana; and many close relatives such as aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.

Love abounded in Gerardo's life; his mother dedicated her entire existence to caring for him and seeing to it that he had all he needed. Despite facing several obstacles as a result of his disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, she made an effort to grant him a life filled with affection, compassionate care, and support. His mother was his hero and the love of his life, and he made sure she knew that. Despite his young age, he touched many lives for his bright testimony of peace and strength. The memories of Gerardo's peaceful life will continue to inspire and uplift those he left behind. He will be deeply missed and we will always cherish the precious moments spent with him.

Gerardo's mother wishes that, in lieu of flowers, friends and family would bring her notes with encouraging words to help her deal with the sad days ahead. There will be a basket for cards at the funeral home.  Thank you!
