Howard Lee Sheppard, 92, of 220 Maxie Avenue, Greenville, and husband of Lillian Wallen Sheppard passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Open Arms Hospice in Simpsonville.
Born in Rutherford County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Jessie Alberta and Hattie Johnson Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard was a United States Army veteran, a salesman for Greenville Roofing Company and founder and retired owner of Sheppard Roofing Company, Inc. He was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon, a member of the Forever Young Club and a member of Fishers of Men Bible Class. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Michael Timothy Sheppard and his wife Janet Campbell Sheppard; daughter-in-law Lynn Turner Sheppard; grandchildren Timothy Dennis Sheppard and his wife Kelly Simmons Sheppard; Jason Turner Sheppard; Joshua Lee Sheppard and his wife Rachel Tucker Sheppard; Drake Michael Sheppard; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Howard Dennis Sheppard, two brothers and four sisters.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 14, at Graceland Mortuary with funeral services to follow at noon. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
