The honorable Hoyt J. Martin, 101, of Greenville, SC, is now in the presence of Jesus Christ. Born in Coal Mountain, GA to Ernest and Vada Martin, he was the last surviving member of his family.

Hoyt is survived by his wife of 75 years, Marjorie P. Martin; son, David (Jane); daughter, Libby M. Webster; grandson, Michael Cordell; great-grandsons: Austin Cordell (Aimy), Brian Cordell (Brianna), Brady Cordell (Zoey), and Noah Webster (Lauren); and great-granddaughters: Ruby and Stevie Webster, and Amelia Cordell. He was preceded in death by his grandson, David Cordell.

Hoyt was a decorated U.S. Army combat veteran of World War II and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a CW4 with 33 years total service. He also retired as a Greenville County Chief Magistrate and was the recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, and a commendation from the South Carolina General Assembly for his service.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 20, 2025 at Victory Greenville, 5 New Dunham Bridge Rd., Greenville, SC 29611. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 1:00 PM. Committal and burial will follow the services at Graceland Cemetery West in Greenville, SC.
