James Oliver Gibson, 78, is now resting eternally in the arms of the Lord. He passed on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021. Born on May 23rd, 1942, he was the son of the late Luther Gibson and the late Cleo Kelley.

James loved his family and always put them first. He was a man of honor and served in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years. He married the love of his life on August 7th, 1964 and from their marriage came two beautiful children whom James loved with all of his heart. His family was what brought him the most joy. James was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend and will be missed dearly. James was a man of faith and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church for many years. When he was not spending time with his family, James enjoyed camping in Cherokee and Pigeon Forge. He was also an animal lover and will be missed by his beloved Chihuahua, Ginger. James was loved by so many and will be remembered for being such a wonderful man to all of those in his life.

Those left to carry on the memory of James are: his wife, Mary Ann Gibson; his children: James Greg Gibson (Mercedes) and Lisa Goss (Scott); his grandchildren: Kala Goss, Nikki Atkinson (Sam), Ashley Goss, Mikayla Gibson, Ryan Gibson, Javier Cordova (Rocio); great grandchildren: Ellie Atkinson, Branddon Cordova, and Ariana Cordova; and sister Barbara Dalton.

James is predeceased by: his parents, Luther Gibson and Cleo Kelley; sisters: Priscilla Haynes, Syble Garrett, and Sue Hamby; and his brother in law, Earl Dalton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church of Easley.

Visitation is planned for Saturday, March 20th, 2021 from 10:30am-12:00pm in the chapel of Graceland Mortuary with a graveside service to follow at Graceland Cemetery- WEST.
