July 25, 1941 – July 17, 2024
Leslie Dean Cooke, age 82, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at home in Easley, SC on July 17, 2024.
He was born in Mooresville, NC to the late Jack and Estelle Cooke.
After graduating high school, Leslie joined the US Navy and served from 1959 to 1962. After the Navy, Leslie graduated from King's College in Charlotte with an Associates Degree in Accounting. Soon after graduation, he began a 26 yr career with GE. The remainder of his professional career was with Southeastern Electrical Distributors, Inc. He was an active member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Easley, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Cabe Cooke; daughter, Lisa Cooke Gantt (Bradley) of Easley SC; a brother, Vichard Cooke (Carol) of Mooresville, NC; and two granddaughters, Leslie Estelle Gantt and Lindsey Grace Gantt of Atlanta, GA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Cooke Sr., of Mooresville, NC.
Leslie was a kind and gentle man who adored his wife, daughter, and his two granddaughters. Throughout his life, Leslie's priority was his family. Over the years, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, and later his favorite role was being Poppy to Leslie and Lindsey.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Bethesda Methodist Church, 516 Piedmont Rd., Easley, SC 29642. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning at 11:00 AM. Committal and burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethesda UMC/Building Fund, 516 Piedmont Rd., Easley, SC 29642.
