Leslie Eugene Smith, 80, of Belton, passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 27, 2020.  He was a son of the late Furman and Pearl Roach Smith. On December 24, 1965, he married the love of his life, Lynda Pennington Smith. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage together and their home was blessed with two children, Angela Seeley Smith and Mark Smith (Tabitha).  Leslie retired from JP Stevens Dunean Mill, where he worked for over 50 years, providing for his family.  He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool and golfing; and, he was unbeatable at a game of horseshoes.  Leslie's favorite thing, though, was simply spending time with family.

In addition to his wife and son, Leslie is survived by one brother, Lester (Mary Ann); two sisters, Florine Craig and Betty Price; two brother-in-laws, Ralph Pennington (Mildred) and Jerry Pennington; four-sister in-laws, Peggy Hinton (Robert), Brenda Pennington, Cynthia Pennington, and Diane Pennington.

In addition to his parents and daughter, Leslie is preceded in death by one brother, Ledford Smith; seven brother-in-laws:  Ellis Craig, Dennis Price, Charles Ray Pennington, Bobby Pennington, John Earl Pennington, Carrol Pennington, and Phillip Pennington; and two sister-in-laws, Betty Smith and Janice Pennington.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 1, 2020, in the chapel of The Graceland Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at The Graceland Mortuary. Interment will follow services at Graceland Cemetery-WEST.
