Obituary

Louise Shealy Kerr, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and community member, went home to be with The Lord on January 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on July 7, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of Rev. W. D. Shealy, Jr. and Ceila S. Shealy. Louise's journey through life was marked by her unwavering love for family, her compassionate spirit, and her commitment to serving her community.

Louise was a proud graduate of Bob Jones Academy (High School), followed by her education at Columbia Nursing School and Greenville School of Cosmetology. Her diverse talents led her to a fulfilling career that spanned several vocations; she was a dedicated surgical nurse at Greenville General Hospital and owned and operated three local beauty shops within Oakmont Nursing Homes, bringing joy and beauty to the lives of many. She was affectionately known as the "Hardware Genie" as the owner of Berea Hardware, Inc. for an impressive 41 years.

A woman deeply connected to her community, Louise served on the Board of Directors at Boys Farm children's home in Newberry, SC. She was a lifetime member of the Case Knife Collectors Club and participated actively in the Berea Fire Department Advisory Board. Louise also supported numerous organizations, including the Disabled American Veterans, Meals on Wheels, the Berea Lions Club, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America, as well as the International Fellowship of Christians.

Louise's greatest legacy is found in her family. She is survived by her loving son, Clayton Kerr, and his wife, Shelly, as well as her beloved granddaughter, Kaley Kerr (Matt) of Nashville, TN. She also leaves behind her devoted brother, Walter D. Shealy III, and his wife, Jean of Newberry, SC, along with her cherished nephews, Dixon Shealy (Renwick) of Newberry, SC and Russell Shealy (Erin) of Chapin, SC.

She also leaves behind a son, Johnny Kerr.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers who provided loving support in her final days, especially the staff at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Louise's life during her funeral service, which will be held on January 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Graceland Mortuary, located at 4814 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611.
