Mariam Dawn Weir, known to everyone simply as Dawn, went home to be with her Lord on July 23, 2026, at the age of 87.

Dawn was born on September 24, 1938, to Carlton Hoard and Gladys Chappell Hoard. She was married to Brian D. Weir for 68 years, a partnership that anchored everything else in her life.

She built a remarkable career at a time when few women did. Dawn was one of the first female real estate brokers in the state of Georgia. She owned and operated Dawn Weir Realty, a residential real estate firm, and Weir and Associates, a commercial real estate company. She spent most of her real estate career in Fayette County, Georgia, where she served as President of the Board of Realtors.

For the last 20 years of her life, she lived in Greenville, South Carolina, a town she loved. She attended Praise Cathedral in Greer, where she always stayed a little longer after each service to welcome new visitors. Dawn knew no strangers. She opened her home to anyone without family nearby at Thanksgiving, and she was always among the first to visit someone in need.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Brian D. Weir; two sons; five grandsons; and one granddaughter.

Dawn lived a full and vibrant life. She loved her family, she loved her husband, and above all, she loved her God.

The family will receive friends during a viewing and visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Graceland Mortuary, 4814 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
