Mary Sue Elrod, 76, native of Greenville, SC, widow of Richard Edward Elrod, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Morris W. and Ethrelene McGuire Reid.

Mary Sue was a graduate of Parker High School. She spent most of her adult life taking care of children either at her home daycare or at the Growing Tree Daycare in Goose Creek, SC. She was a devoted caretaker to her mother and father when they fell ill until they were called home to be with the Lord. She was a devoted wife to Richard Edward Elrod for 51 years, until his passing. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bo Reid. She is survived by her two children, Samantha Collins and her husband Chad Collins, and Richard Edward Elrod II. She was a beloved Nana to Christopher, Zachary, Emma Collins, LCpl, USMC Brandon Elrod, and two great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to the Prisma Hospital and their Hospice Team for taking such wonderful care of Sue in her final days.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2025 at Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611. Flowers may be sent to the cemetery office.
