Mary Jean Gunter, 94, passed away on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021.

Mary Jean was a lifelong resident of the Welcome Community and a faithful member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was married to the love of her life, Leroy Gunter, for over 50 wonderful years before his passing. Mary Jean was a fantastic wife and mother who made sure that her family was very well taken care of. She always cooked three meals a day and retired at 80 years old from Greenville Orthopedic Appliance. Mary Jean was incredibly strong in her faith and was a radiant light to all those around her. She will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and everyone blessed enough to know such an incredible woman.

Mary Jean's life and legacy will be carried on through her children: Teddy and Carolyn Gunter, Ron and Margaret Gunter, and Levelle Shepherd; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Mary Jean has been gloriously reunited in Heaven with her husband, Leroy Gunter, and their son, Stephen Alan Gunter.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Washington Avenue Baptist Church.

A graveside service is planned for Friday, March 19th, 2021 at 11:00 am at Graceland Cemetery- WEST.
