IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Joanne
Klinetop
June 12, 1938 – March 15, 2019
Surrounded by her loving family, Joanne Klinetop of Greenville passed away at age 80 on Friday afternoon March 15, 2019 at McCall Open Arms Hospice House following an extended illness.
Mary Joanne (Pressley) Klinetop was secure in her Christian beliefs, leaning on Christ Jesus for guidance and instruction. Her intimate and daily walk with Christ led her to blossom into a Proverbs 31 woman. Joanne was worth far more than rubies not only in her family's eyes but in the eyes of our Lord. She spoke with wisdom and faithful instruction that was guided by the Holy Spirit. She carefully watched over the affairs of her husband and children, who in return, arose and called her blessed. Joanne, having kept her faith through life's ups and downs, has finished her race and is now crowned with Christ's righteousness.
The daughter of Columbus Manley and Martha Reba Pressley, Joanne was born June 12, 1938. She graduated from Biltmore High School in Asheville, North Carolina in 1956. On June 2, 1961, she married Howard Klinetop whom she met at Southside Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. They resided in Greenville their entire married life. Although she raised her family in Greenville, she never missed an opportunity to go back to North Carolina to visit the mountains she loved.
Being a loving wife and mother, Joanne's focus was on supporting her husband and raising her children. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, scrapbooking, and gardening. She made all the kids clothes when they were little. She was a great cook, faithfully providing wonderful home-cooked meals to her family.
Blessed with a beautiful voice, Joanne loved singing in the church choir along with playing the piano and organ.
Joanne's beautiful personality and sweet spirit spoke volumes to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She lived a Spirit-guided life that was uplifting, encouraging, and showed God's grace to others.
Joanne is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 57 years, Howard Klinetop of Greenville; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Timothy (Peggy) Klinetop of Bellville, Ohio, Stephen (Diane) Klinetop of Inman, South Carolina, and Ruth Ann (Jon) Brandt of La Junta, Colorado; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and extended family.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Joyce (Pressley) Craft.
The Klinetop family would like to express a special thank you to NHC of Mauldin, McCall Hospice House, DSI Dialysis Care, GHS Home Health Care, Dr. McFarland at Woodward Clinic, and the loving church family at Unity Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church. A service celebrating the life of Joanne Klinetop will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Earl Green and Pastor Ron Ellison officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland West Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Unity Baptist Church in her memory.
