RUTH "BETSY" ROYAL WEST
SPARTA, GA - Ruth "Betsy" Royal West, 84, recently of Sparta, GA and formerly of Greenville/Simpsonville, SC and Augusta, GA, was called home on December 17 at Doctors' Hospital in Augusta, GA, after a brief illness.
Daughter of the late John and Ruth Royal of Clemson, SC, she was a 1984 graduate of Greenville Technical College, a loving mother and grandmother, a breast cancer survivor and a retired medical lab technician. She was a member of Lakemont Presbyterian Church in Augusta, GA, an active volunteer and an avid gardener. She was preceded in death, in 1993 by her beloved husband and best friend, William "Bill" West, with whom she shared a life for nearly 40 years.
Surviving are her three children, son; William Barry West of Warrenton, GA, daughters; Karen Ruth West-Bruton of Sparta, and Joy West of Greenville, SC, and her grandson; William "Wil" Mitchell, also of Greenville, as well as her children by marriage, Deryl Satcher West of Warrrenton, Craig Bruton of Sparta and former son-in-law, Tony Mitchell. In addition to her parents and husband, Betsy is also preceded in death by her sisters Rosa McBride, Mary Hendricks and Amaryllis Royal and her brother, John "Buddy" Royal. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Graveside services will be held 1PM on Monday, December 21 at Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Simpsonville.
