Sandra "Nanny" Freeman Steele

Sandra "Nanny" Freeman Steele, 75, passed peacefully on May 11, 2019. Nanny was born in Easley August 10, 1943 to the late Thomas Hughes and Ruby Herrion.

Nanny, as she is known by everyone, worked in the cotton mills and was a home maker to her children, whom she treasured dearly. She was loving to all who knew her. She would help anyone and never knew a stranger. Nanny was known to be a bit on the feisty side and would put you in your place if need be.

She is survived by her children: Angela Lyons, Mark Freeman, Rhonda Hubbard, and son-in-law Timmy Burnett. Also grandchildren: Deidra Smith (Johnathan), Jeremy Burnett (Ashley), Harley Wilkinson (Natalie), Drayton Freeman, Cole Freeman, Jennifer Guerrero (Daniel), Kimberly Freeman, Tosha Hubbard, Dorothy (Ali) Hubbard (Eric), Monica Williams, her Aunt Margaret Leslie, and 18 great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by brother, Wayne Hughes, her daughter Darlene Burnett, wife of Timmy Burnett, grandson Timothy Burnett Jr., and son-in-law Sammy Hubbard.

A family style service and viewing will take place on May 17, 2019 from 6pm until 8pm in the chapel of Graceland Mortuary.
