Obituary

Thomas Manila Hampton, 68, of Greenville, passed away at his home. He was born the only child of the late Henry Ford Hampton, Jr. and Esther Haggins on July 21, 1952.

Thomas was a professional welder and landlord for many years. He loved music and playing the bass guitar. He played with The Marshall Tucker Band before they were famous. But his life-long love and dream was drag racing. He loved everything about the sport. Thomas was famous for always wearing his racing shirts. He was married to Billie Ruth for over 33 wonderful and loving years and they raised four beautiful daughters together.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 33 years, Billie Ruth Hamby Hampton, four daughters and their families: Teresa- her two children: Chris Gilliland (Melissa)and their two children Gabby, and Addison  and Cheryl Gilliland; Laurie- and her two children: Sharon Aljoe and her three children: Tamyai, Ja'Quan, and Jamaica and Christina Rene' Cline; Carolyn- and her two children: Oliva Banks(Joe) and their four children Cameron(Jasmine) and their child Oliver, Hali, Kadence, and Phoebe and Tiffany Rowland(Jimmy)and their two children: Kody and Sophie; and Angelina(Tony) and their three children Alex Poore(Katrina), MarkPoore, and Carissa Poore. Thomas is survived by five generations of his family: four daughters, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great- great grandchild.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 25 from 1-2pm, with the funeral service to follow.

The family has requested no flowers, please.
