IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia D.
Brown
March 13, 1925 – February 24, 2026
Virginia "Jackie" Hunter Brown, age 100, of Greenville, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2026, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Doyle Brown.
Born March 13, 1925, in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Minnie Hunter. Jackie was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Davis, and her brother, Dewey Hunter. Her life was defined by unwavering faith, deep love for others, and a joyful spirit that drew people to her wherever she went.
Above all else, Jesus was the center of Jackie's life. She was a devoted member of Tremont Church of God, where her faith was lived out daily through prayer, service, and encouragement to everyone she encountered. Jackie never missed an opportunity to share the goodness of the Lord and the hope she carried in her heart. Her life reflected the truth of one of her favorite scriptures: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5–6)
Jackie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was her greatest earthly treasure. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Ronnie Morris, and her sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Carol Smith Brown, and Van and Tena Osteen Brown.
She was a cherished grandmother to Aaron Cook (Ronnie Cook), Sheena Odom (Jesse Odom), Shannon McCombs (Dean McCombs), Rex Brown (Marianne Brown), Scott Brown (Kassidy Brown), Austin Morris (Bekah Morris), and Andrew Brown. Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: Ethan Davis; Addison, Alaina, and Liam Odom; Colton and Kane Morris; Rowynn McCombs; Caroline and Annaleah Brown; and Pressley.
Jackie's life was marked by gentleness, warmth, and extraordinary selflessness. She was known as a woman of prayer—always smiling, always ready with a warm hug, and always making others feel seen, included, and deeply loved. To know her was to feel welcomed; no one was ever a stranger in Jackie's presence. She had a rare gift for loving people exactly where they were and caring for them as if they were her own.
She found great joy in tending her garden, spending time with friends and family, and visiting and encouraging residents in nursing homes—a reflection of her lifelong calling to care for others. Those who knew her often said she was truly an angel on earth, a woman whose kindness, faith, and compassion touched countless lives.
Jackie will be remembered as one of the sweetest, most God-loving souls to walk this earth—a faithful servant, devoted matriarch, and source of unwavering love. She was deeply loved by her family and all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Visitation will be held Monday March 2nd 2026, from 10:00–11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 11:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at Tremont Church of God. A graveside service will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery.
Though her family's hearts ache in her absence, they rejoice in the promise of eternity and the legacy of faith and love she leaves behind. Her prayers, her hugs, and her beautiful spirit will live on in all who loved her.
