Virginia Fowler Thornhill, 92, of Greenville passed away Monday, May 14, 2018. Mrs. Thornhill was the daughter of the late Claude and Rosa Lee Fowler and the loving wife of the late William I. Thornhill for 31 years. She was employed by the Greenville County School District and Friendship United Methodist Church Daycare doing what she loved, caring for and rocking babies. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and a former member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church where she raised her family.
Mrs. Thornhill is survived by one son, Stanley Thornhill (Debbie) of Greenville, SC; one daughter, Rosanne Beck (Don) of Texas; four grandchildren: Julie Pattison (Ross) of Oklahoma, Ty Thornhill of Tennessee, Alyson Littleton of Greenville, and Brian Wilson; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own children. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by one son, Rev. Greg Thornhill, one daughter, Phoebe Thornhill, two sisters, and one brother.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 18, 2018 in the chapel of the Graceland Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at the Graceland Mortuary. Interment will follow services at Graceland Cemetery-WEST.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Westwood Baptist Church, 3821 Saluda Dam Road, Easley, SC, 29642. The family would also like to thank the staff at Heartland East of Greenville for the wonderful care given to their mom for the past five years.
